Jan Mayen
Jan Mayen   is a volcanic  island  1000 km west of Norway, 600 km north of Iceland. Our first magnetometer there was set up 1922 and was kept in operation until destroyed in a major earthquake in 1936. A reestablishment took place 1978, and digital recording was introduced in 1988. The magnetometer is located at the meteorological station at Jan Mayen, and runs with assistance by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
